Kurai Chinise and Sushi in Pharr

This is my first time here. Excellent variety of food. And a wide array of rolls! They had lots of fresh veggies to choose from for those like me who need to choose healthier items. They also had all the other usual Chinese fare which delighted the husband. Service was wonderful. Will be back soon!!!

Fantastic service stocked buffet and Hot food my sister and I go there about three times a month

Amazing food as always. Just teriyaki chicken was cold, other than that it's an amazing atmosphere to be at if you want sushi and Chinese your family will enjoy it. My kiddos love this place. My go to for family outtings.

Went to drive thru today January 13th. Their Combo #3 is supposed to have 2 entrees and 1 side. So I asked for both entrees to be General Tso Chicken. And they have the nerve to charge me extra because I selected the same entree. There is no sign anywhere that says that in the menu or the drive thru window and why would I pay extra if the combo has 2 portions and 1 side. I didn't ask for extra anything. I've been to several Chinese restaurants and none charged me extra for having the same entree on my combo. Thumbs down 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼🤬

One of the best places to get all you can eat sushi. They don't disappoint.

This buffet has a very wide variety of high quality sushi. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is great. I would highly recommend this place.

So the guy making sushi blew his sopping nose over the uncovered food and for the life of me I couldn't say what happened to the waiter in Spanish. So of course they had no staff that spoke English. I had to mime it. We might have a refund coming to us but we didn't even stay for drinks. I like the original location best.

What a great concept. Sushi buffet as well as Chinese buffet combined. Of course the sushi is not 4 star Michelin standards but there is over 20 different rolls that they offer and all are different. Staff is friendly and curtios, they made sure are drinks were always filled. Prices are fair and interior is well kept.

The Mrs. And I hit up this spot today since and we were in town and boy o boy let me tell you, sushi galore, easily more than 20 types of sushi, it's good sushi for the price and it's a buffet. They also have traditional Asian food as well and it was amazing as well. The place is clean, our waiter was very attentive with our drinks which is always good. Overall, yeah I'd go again, I'd definitely recommend it to everyone.

Order is taking forever and the whole kitchen staff is just standing around talking will not come back

I went there and the food is Great but the service is terrible I asked my waitress for a refil on water and she gave me such an ugly look and went to get it but what really made my experience terrible was the fact that my waitress tipped herself 5.00$ when I had put no tip on card but I come to find out when I get home that my bill went from 23$ to 28$ I’m not going to go and complain over this 5.00$ but just a fair warning for anyone who goes

Great service and quality of food for a buffet. I’m not the type of person that goes to buffets but this one is great! They have a large variety of sushi rolls, my favorite is the hot Cheetos. The only thing complain is the price increase they recently had, it is still worth it if you eat a good amount of food. Otherwise, Kumori may be a better option

Sushi all seemed fresh and was delicious but labels explaining whats in each roll were so tiny I cld'nt read most of them and some were missing labels so i had to skip a lot of rolls to avoid allergens. What I did taste was great. The sweet n sour soup was extremely salty we informed the waiter and he said "its the way they always make it" The hot food items were good also. Music is very loud at this location although they recognized it halfway through our meal and turned it down it was still quite loud and top 40 hits with lots of suggestive wording and beeped out words glad I didn't have small kids with me. :/ Also sign in window said $9.99 lunch buffet I was charged $12.99 for both our meals and the girl at the counter said they just recently changed price.

Warm sushi. Very little actual fish. Mostly cream cheese and avocado. Very bland food

Definitely has improved compared to how this restaurant used to operate. Food is excellent, great service and lots of variety. Could definitely use way more desserts are there are currently only a couple of options.

The food is great and fresh food is constantly being added to the buffet! Every time I go I feel like I gain 100 pounds

Made a quick stop here with friends. Great price along with great selection to choose from the buffet. Only con I suppose is the small plates. But worth going again.

HORRIBLE. Rice was soggy & overly moist, I asked for combination rice & it had NO MEAT. Sushi was horrible. Everything tastes thrown together

I want to like this location more than the others because of the decorations but when it comes to the food, it is always hit or miss. Some hot food items are warm at best and never hot. I showed up on a Sunday at 1213 (they open at noon) and the food was still not as hot as you would hope it would be. Selection is ok as the location on McColl and Trenton seems to have a better selection and friendlier staff. This place leaves more to be desired but it gets that one extra star because of the decorations.

The sushi is always fresh and they have a great variety. Tons of crisp and tasty veggies. Food is made in small batches so it's always hot. The vegetables are super since they're not overcooked and limp. I don't feel tired and stuffed as when eating at another Chinese restaurant.

This place is the ideal version of a sushi buffet. Balanced sushi options and also Chinese plate options. Very well spaced and organized place. Walk-in is standard pay and get seated with drinks served from the get-go. After that you walk to the line and choose whatever options of platings are available.

Right now they’re following social distancing guidelines very well. My only issue was that when we walked in, it took us a good 3-4 minutes for anyone to come talk to us, charge us and seat us. Employees walked by and totally ignored us, there was a lady near the front on the phone and when she hung up she didn’t even look up at us. Once we were seated, it was a different experience. Our waitress was very attentive and quick to get the plates out of the way and refill our drinks. The buffet wasn’t bad either. My favorite was the multiple selection of sushi. Overall it was a good experience, it was just that they took a bit to notice us and we were just standing there awkwardly.

Not really Sushi but rather lots (over 40) different "california" rolls. Plus a good variety of Chinese dishes (many too salty) and all were hot and fresh. I was a bit disappointed and would not return. It should be called Sushi Roll & Chinese Buffet.

Way to go staff!! Our waitress was top notch. Sushi was the bomb, the atmosphere quiet, serene. Very decent price... under $40 for 3 ppl! A great place to sit down anytime and carry on a conversation. 1st date? Come here, lots to talk about. Tip high, highly encouraged, the staff is worth it. :))

Food is always good. I appreciate the new accommodations to stay open while protecting their customers. Keep rocking that sushi fellows 🙂👍

loved it ...this is my sons favorite place in the world for the last 3 consecutive years he has requested to spend it there on his birthday!!! they donsomething so special he fell in love with the birthdays song all over the speakersinstead of mucic ..they played the happy birthday song that made him feel MEGA SPECIAL which he is to me!

No eel sushi here, cheap sushi, little tuna or salmon

Carlos our waiter was awesome .. He has good customer service.. the restaurant was very neat and very clean.. We went their to celebrate my mother's Birthday she enjoyed herself.. I highly recommend everyone to try Kurai Chinese & Sushi you will love it.. ♡nf

I love this place and so many different choices

Tried out the buffet today and it was just ok, they have a huge selection of sushi but it's mostly cream cheese and imitation crab meat. Some of the rolls are flavorless and are served a little warm. Some fall apart on the trip to the plate. They serve a small medicore selection of the more common Chinese food such as orange chicken broccoli and beef fried rice ect. Atmosphere is lively and dim restrooms were clean on my visit wait staff are amazing plates were cleared as soon as we were done with them and ever few minutes our waitress came to check on our table. One thing that stood out were the curved tables that made eating awkward and uncomfortable. Temperature was comfortable the while time I was here. I don't think I will be making a return food wasn't worth coming back.

I’ve eaten here once before and everything was good, go around noon or dinner time when the food is fresh. They have a great selection of sushi 🍣 , not bad for a buffet and the Chinese is good too. Food is often being brought out fresh cause of the rush that’s why I’ll go during lunch or dinner.

The only reason i did not give it 5 stars was because if its cleanliness or lack thereof. It was neat to try all the different sushi. And they tasted great! It needs a good spring cleaning, sorry i gotta say it, not another spring roll😏!

I ordered curbside it was a horrible experience, for one i got the wrong order. Second the food was dried and old like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. NEVER AGAIN 😡

People were not wearing masks as they would go up to receive food. Also, they sat people right behind us. We left immediately.

Great variety but sushi was not fresh this trip..chewy and dry
